Classmate's Blog II

I read a post on Tamekia's blog about a woman who crashed her car and spent two days upside down in it waiting for help, but she still survived. After the daily news stories about people who die in crashes, it's nice to hear a story where the person survived miraculously.

Other Companies with Enviable Business Cultures

I chose the following two companies to research online because both of them have an amazing working atmosphere.
First, Disney is renowned for its customer service worldwide. The extensive training and benefits the employees receive help to foster a fun environment with employees who are eager to help the customers and each other.
Starbucks is another company that has experienced a worldwide boom due to its impeccable customer service. Its mission statement says it all, but what is even more amazing is that the employees actually follow through on what it says. Starbucks' customer service has helped make it what it is today.

Classmates' Blogs :)

I had so much fun looking at Heather's blog. She is discussing launching a new brand of cosmetics for L'Oreal that would contain sunscreen/protection from UV rays. I loved going to all the links she posted, especially the one directly to the Lancome Web site. I love shopping for makeup, even if it's just looking on the internet, so I had a lot of fun with this one!

I also had a blast with Lauren's blog. I absolutely adore Harry Potter, and I can't imagine anything more fun or fantastical than going to a place created to look like various sets of the book, so this new theme park sounds amazing! I think we all dream about what it would be like to have magical powers, and this theme park is as close as we can come to it. I can't wait for it to open!

Fitness Blogs

Former Fat Guy's blog kind of cracked me up, but it has a lot of good stuff in it, especially the blog addressing The Biggest Loser. His advice is consistent with everything we teach at GHFC, and shows the proper way to achieve weight-loss goals.

The next blog was seasonally appropriate, written by Joy Bauer, discussing the nutritional benefits of pumpkin before Halloween. I like pumpkin pie and all, but I still think that I prefer candy to pumpkin. Still, she lists several healthy pumpkin recipes and ways to prevent candy binges.

Gabrielle Reece wrote a blog on switching up exercise routines and encouraging people to sometimes get out of the gym and do some exercise they might not otherwise do, like horseback riding. Maybe the gym can incorporate outside programs with member discounts to other experiences; I know there's already a partnership in place with the Gainesville Rock Gym.

News Article

This week, I read this article that could really apply to GHFC members about How Not To Lose Weight.
So many people don't know how to lose weight, so they resort to bad methods that can be unhealthy. The whole goal of this counseling is to help people achieve their fitness goals in a healthy way, understanding the science behind the exercise and diet.

Three Related Web sites

Fitness Magazine has lots of information on dieting, workouts and even a personal fitness planner. This total body approach to losing weight is something I could incorporate into GHFC's program.

GHFC's new program I'm proposing is like having a personal trainer to track someone's workouts and diets so that they reach their goals. This web site discusses how personal trainers should be in tune with their clients' goals and help them reach those, no matter what they may be.

This healthy body calculator can help people determine how to change their behavior and habits to lose or gain weight. Unfortunately, I tried it out and it seems slightly inaccurate. Still, it's an idea to incorporate into GHFC's program.
